Two exciting Learning for Sustainability/ Global Citizenship events will take place in Inverness on Monday 8th June as part of a new Kenyan Connections project.

Kenyan Connections Conference

Highland Council Chamber, Highland Council HQ, Inverness. June 8th, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Kenyan Connections is a partnership between NECOFA Kenya and Crofting Connections. This conference is part of a ten-day visit to Scotland by four Kenyan teachers to four Crofting Connections schools in June.

It is a CPD opportunity for teachers, as the Scottish and Kenyan partner schools share their learning with other schools.

Speakers include Dr Margaret Bennett, writer, folklorist, singer and broadcaster; Dr Rhema White, lecturer in Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews; Samuel Muhunyu, director of NECOFA Kenya, and Catriona Willis, Global Learning coordinator at Highland One World.

The Elephant in the Room: A Conversation Between Cultures

Great Glen House, Leachkin Rd, Inverness. June 8th, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Scottish Natural Heritage and Crofting Connections invite you to celebrate Kenyan Connections in an evening of conversation with food from Scotland's Natural Larder.

The Highlands of Kenya and the Highlands of Scotland are both known for their iconic wildlife and their small-scale agricultural holdings - the shambas of Kenya and the crofts of Scotland. Both contribute to the economy of the regions and need to find ways to coexist.

Both events are free to attend but places are limited.
