Monday, 19 December 2016 14:20

We are delighted to announce the return of writer, activist and provocateur Colm Regan to Inverness on Saturday 21st January 2017 at Millburn Academy, Inverness. This time, he is accompanied by Tony Daly the Co-ordinator for Irish charity '80:20: Educating and Acting for a Better World'. This event will comprise a talk from Colm followed by workshops specific to primary of secondary teachers.

This inspiring and thought-provoking global citizenship event for primary and secondary teachers aims to build knowledge, skills and motivation to explore big themes with learners - inequality and its impact, women's rights, climate change and sustainability.

Colm Regan has been directly involved in development education for over 35 years. Tony Daly is Co-ordinator at Irish Charity '80:20 Educating and Acting for a Better World' and has worked in development education and human rights for the past 17 years. Colm and Tony are joining us as part of their Scottish tour, launching the 7th edition of the incredibly popular development education resource 80:20 - Development in an Unequal World.

Colm's keynote talk is to be 'We are all activists now: exploring human development today' followed by Q&A.

Separate workshops for primary (Basic Needs: Basic Rights) and secondary (Looking behind the numbers: Human development today) will follow.

The event will close with coffee, networking, a chance to look through the new DVD resource and an opportunity to visit the 80:20 book stall.
