Getting Started with Rights

This course aims to support teachers at all levels to develop their understanding of human rights and children’s rights and to embed these across the curriculum and into the ethos of schools. This will also support equality and diversity work across the school.

Key points

This course will:

  • build knowledge and understanding of the UNCRC and Human Rights
  • make links between Rights-based learning, Global Citizenship and Learning for Sustainability
  • use active learning methodologies to explore rights and embed rights within the curriculum
  • consider a wide range of resources to support rights-based learning and teaching
  • provide an opportunity to try something new back at school and then come together again to share experiences with other teachers.

Who is it for?

All primary and secondary teaching staff including probationers.

The course includes a professional reflection element which will support teachers’ Professional Update.
