Developing Numeracy Through Global Citizenship

Global Citizenship Education provides rich, interdisciplinary opportunities to develop numeracy skills, from questioning and higher order thinking to problem solving and applying mathematical skills in a wide range of real life contexts.

Key points

During this practical, two part course we will:

  • Examine the relationship between numeracy and Global Citizenship alongside national agendas
  • Critically evaluate and challenge how statistics are used
  • Explore practical methodologies for the classroom to develop mathematical skills
  • Share resources to support the development of numeracy in local and global contexts
  • Try out some global citizenship education in the classroom that develops numeracy skills and share experiences with other teachers

Levels 2 & 3 - Upper Primary and Secondary teachers of all subjects (BGE)
