Inspiring learning for a fairer future

ONLINE COURSE: Introduction to Global Citizenship: A Core Part of Learning for Sustainability

We are offering an online professional learning opportunity for upper primary and secondary teachers from across Scotland to increase skills and confidence in delivering education for global citizenship / Learning for Sustainability. This course offers an alternative to a face-to-face Introduction to Global Citizenship course.

What is on offer?

This practical online course will run over an initial five weeks, with a follow-up session later in the year focussing on reflection and sharing good practice. This will support your professional learning and the GTCS professional update.

This online course aims to:

  • build your confidence and understanding of global citizenship and its links to national and international priorities;
  • support you to embed global citizenship within learning and teaching;
  • support your planning of a global citizenship topic;
  • encourage you to reflect on the impact on your own and your pupils' learning;
  • develop your professional dialogue skills and contribute to your professional update;
  • encourage you to share your learning with other teachers from around Scotland.

What's my commitment?

Each week you will be required to participate in some practical activities, reflection and discussion. This should take approximately one hour per week, at a time that suits you. You will then be asked to try out some activities or ideas in the classroom before you return for the final online reflection and sharing session in September.

Course Start Date: next starting date tbc
