Inspiring learning for a fairer future

Exploring Controversial Issues - 3 New Twilight Dates

The aim of this course is for teachers to increase their knowledge and understanding, skills and confidence in exploring controversial issues in the classroom. New twilight dates added for Dingwall, Fort William and Wick.

Controversial issues can be daunting to teach as they can elicit debate, differences in opinion and sometimes conflict. However, teaching controversial issues is important as it supports learners to explore their own viewpoints and values as well as those of others and to develop the necessary self-awareness, skills, values and attitudes to engage confidently and successfully with the world around them.

This practical course explores a range of useful methodologies for exploring controversial issues in the classroom safely and effectively.

Who is it for?

Teachers of upper primary and secondary.
